Creating a better Nevada, one affordable housing
project– and one union career – at a time.

The Northern Nevada Building & Construction Trades Council Development Corporation was established in 1978. Its mission is to own and operate not-
for-profit rental complexes for low and moderate-income families and promote skilled trades and apprenticeships in Northern Nevada.
Building the careers that build Northern Nevada.

Northern Nevada’s labor movement has built a system that supports workforce development and growth across the region. The Development Corp. helps strengthen this system through long-term partnerships with local apprenticeship programs. This approach helps ensure long-term, sustainable growth for all of the building and construction trades.
Registered apprenticeship programs and hiring halls provide training and connect workers with jobs. This is an efficient system for companies to find skilled employees. These programs offer hands-on training for new apprentices. They also provide skill development opportunities for experienced workers.
The Development Corp. works with the Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC) to meet apprenticeship recruitment needs. We also partner with community and workforce organizations and conduct outreach to raise awareness of JATC programs and careers in the skilled trades.
