Our mission is to build a better Nevada one affordable housing project – and one union career – at a time.

The Northern Nevada Building & Construction Trades Council Development Corporation was established in 1978. Its mission is to own and operate not-for-profit rental complexes for low and moderate income families, the elderly, the handicapped, those displaced by urban renewal areas or otherwise displaced by government action, where no housing otherwise exists for such groups, and to promote and assist other non-profit entities in and about Washoe County, Nevada with job training and vocational support provided on an equal employment opportunity basis for members of disadvantaged communities.

Building the careers that build Northern Nevada.

Northern Nevada’s labor movement has a cohesive ecosystem for regional workforce development, enhancement, and support. The Development Corp. is dedicated to supporting this ecosystem through long-term, dynamic, and sustainable capacity-building with our region’s pre-apprenticeship programs.

The use of registered apprenticeship programs and hiring halls to train and provide manpower creates a seamless, end-to-end hub for companies to gain access to a skilled workforce without the need for constant job listings, as well as providing industry-driven cutting-edge training to new apprentices and continuous skills development opportunities to journeypeople.

The Development Corp. assists JATC programs in anticipating and meeting recruitment needs for apprenticeship slots, works with community-based and strategic workforce development partners, and engages in community outreach to raise awareness of and promoting JATC and skilled trades career tracks.
